Building a community event driven site for The Climate Coalition
An initiative of The Climate Coalition, Great Big Green Week is the UK’s biggest celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature.
They wanted to move the whole website and community event creation platform to NationBuilder so that they could better capture data around who was organising events and make future communication more effective.

Intuitive frontend event submission interface
The Great Big Green Week is the amalgamation of hundreds of individual, community driven events. For that reason it was crucial that the process for creating an event was as intuitive as possible.
We leveraged and enhanced NationBuilder's user generated events functionality to build a staged frontend form, carefully designed for clarity.
The form utilised NationBuilder's API allowing users to upload a banner image and logo to accompany their event. At the end of the process the user was shown a preview of how their event was going to look before submission.
Admin friendly event approval process
The Great Big Green week receives hundreds of events every year. Each one of those events needed to be checked before being put live on the site.
We created a custom event approval process to make assessing and approving content as quick and painless as possible.
The admin approval table utilised the NationBuilder API to make approving draft events as simple as clicking a button.
Showcasing events across the country
Aside from the event creation process the site also needed to provide an easy way for people to find relevant events in their area.
We created a custom styled map that allowed people to see markers for events across the country. These markers provide an overview of the event on click with the option to find out more.
The map is filterable by postcode allowing for a more specific search.
Flexible theme for dynamic, engaging page layouts
The site also needed to act as both an overview of The Great Big Green Week and provide a hub for resources that could help their audience better run their events.
We created a custom designed theme with bespoke, page building functionality that works seamlessly within NationBuilders suite of campaign ready tools. This meant that the Great Big Green Week team could build landing pages, add content, resources, events and anything else they needed to keep their community informed.
Custom exporter for better access to Great Big Green Week event data
Once the events were over it became apparent that The Great Big Green Week team had more specific needs about the information that they wanted to be able to export for analysis.
We utilised the NationBuilder API to build a custom data exporter. This allowed the team to access the data they needed in an easily digestible way, at the click of a button.
