The All Party Parliamentary Group on Inclusive Growth have a membership drawn from across the Houses of Parliament and, in collaboration with the Sheffield Political Economy Research Institute (SPERI), attempt to forge a new consensus on inclusive growth and identify the practical next steps for reform.
They needed a website that could bring together the various strands of the work that they do, be that videos, blog posts, events or publications and present it in a coherent and easily navigable way. The site also needed to showcase the members of the group and have a prominent newsletter sign up to help build a mailing list.

An inviting hub to talk about Inclusive Growth
The primary objective for the site was to create a central hub for members of the Inclusive Growth APPG to share content, and better communicate their ideas.
With that in mind we built the site to be as user friendly as possible. We thought carefully about how to structure the content so that it was clear and easy to navigate for visitors, making sure that the home page had a clear hierarchy so as to not overwhelm.
It was also vital that editing and maintaining the site was as intuitive as possible. We used a custom WordPress interface to make editing and adding content as easy as possible. We also made sure that the theme had elegant fallback options for all scenarios, e.g. when no imagery was available, so as to preserve the integrity of the design regardless of the administrators choices.
Custom templates to suit the content
The APPG on Inclusive Growth produce a wide array of content, including blogs, publications, videos and events. We wanted the site to adapt to these different content types so that they could be displayed in a way that was sympathetic to their requirements.
Each content type has a dedicated section in the admin panel and each has their own custom template for display on the front end. This means that, relevant information can be added to a post if appropriate, for example, publications can have multiple authors and events can have a date and location. This extra information informed the way that the content type was designed so that visitors always have access to the required information.
