- Used by thousands of people
- Encouraged and empowered NUS’s audience to engage with the democratic process
- Extended the functionality of NationBuilder to allow for data to be gathered in a different, more engaging way.
Can I Vote?
The first thing we built was a tool which allowed international students studying in the UK to check which ballots they were eligible to vote in.
The student submitted information on their country of origin and study location. They were then presented with a breakdown of which ballots they could and couldn’t take part in.
Who should I vote for?
The second tool we developed was intended to inform users which political parties best aligned with their values.
We presented the user with a series of questions on different policy areas and asked them to select the position(s) that they most agreed from a selection of answers drawn from main the party manifestos.
On submission of their results they were then shown a breakdown of which party their answers most aligned with along with some further information.
Results specific to each UK region
The user submitted their postcode at the start of the quiz so that the potential answers could reflect the main parties in their location, be that England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland.
Exit Poll
The final tool was an exit poll, conducted on the day of the election, which asked their audience who they ended up voting for.
This information was then presented as a series of pie charts showing the vote share for their audience across the United Kingdom and within the different regions.
