Vintage & Cie are a french company, who sell rare and fine collector’s wines and spirits.
Although they already had an existing online shop which they wanted to keep the had decided that, using the Nationbuilder platform, they wanted to create a site that was geared towards building and maintaining a network of potential customers and keeping them informed about latest Vintage & Cie news and events.
The main challenge with this site was finding a way to seamlessly integrate the new site with the existing shop, so that a customer switching from one to the other wouldn’t feel like they were dealing with two different companies. They also needed the ability to assign membership levels to certain sign ups and serve or hide content based on their membership level,
Although the site’s main goal was to build a network of potential customers and interested parties for Vintage & Cie, it was still important to showcase their products and offer visitors the opportunity to make a purchase.
Nationbuilder, by default, is not designed to sell products and, in any case, the products already existed in Vintage & Cie’s online store. With that in mind, we decided that the best course of action would be to pull product data (such as name, image and price etc) from an XML feed on the other site into the new site. That way products would only have to be maintained in one place and any lack of constancy in transitioning between the two sites would be minimised.
We also decided that it would be desirable for the products that get pulled in to reflect the preferences of the customer who was looking at the site. We created custom fields to allow the user to select their favourite types of product from a series of checkboxes on sign up, then based on those selections, a logged in user would see products in line with their choices.
For the CMS we used Nationbuilder, a platform specifically designed to allow an organisation to build a movement through a rich set of network building features.
As qualified Nationbuilder Architects, we knew how to design templates that integrated well with the platforms functionality, producing a site that was both aesthetically pleasing and easily usable.
The website is responsive so works across all major browsers and devices.
