InFacts are a group of prominent journalists who passionately believed that Britain would be better off remaining in the European Union. In the lead up to the recent referendum, they wanted a website where they could make the case for remain, through their writing. After the referendum, in light of the leave vote, the site’s focus has shifted towards finding ways for Britain to have a strong and positive relationship with the EU.
InFacts approached The Space Room to brand and build the website, with the brief being that the site most be clear, easily navigable and legible. There would be various satirical cartoon elements supplied by animators Dog and Rabbit , so the site had to be understated so that those elements shone through.
InFacts didn’t have any branded, so the first step was to create a logo that could be used on the site and across any other collateral if and when required. Below are a selection of potential logos that emerged from that process…

Site design and build
After the logo had been finalised we began to design the site. We knew the requirements for the site were going to evolve as the campaign developed so decided to use WordPress because of the flexibility it allows.
Because the site was centred around articles, first and foremost the emphasis had to be on readability, so we looked at sites like Politico and The Guardian to get some inspiration. The content also had to be categorised and tagged in different ways so that it appeared in relevant places across the site. As the site evolved we added and removed sections to suit the changing nature of the campaign.
